If you want to completely migrate SQL 2008 database to SQL Server 2017. Follow the steps given below –

  • Open SQL Server Management Studio using Object Explorer
  • Connect it to the source server
  • Right click on the existing database and choose Tasks option
  • Select Generate Scripts
  • Click Next
  • In Generate and Publish Scripts wizard, select Script entire database and all database objects option and click the Next button.
  • Set Scripting Options
  • Also, set the Advanced Scripting options. Specify a schema and data
  • Set Script Logins, Script Full Text Indexes and Script Triggers True
  • Click on Next button
  • Click Finish
