Q – I was using Outlook 2007. Recently, I have upgraded to MS Outlook 2016 and got contacts missing from my Outlook Address Book. I don’t know the reason behind it and the solution to recover my contacts. Please share the suggestion.

There are several reasons due to which contact information does not appear in the Address Book in Outlook –

  • Install the Outlook Address Book service
  • Mark your contact folder for use with your address book
  • Look for the email address or a fax number
Melissa

Can you please elaborate the solution to resolve these issues?

Nicolette

Sure. To install the Address Book Service, follow the given steps –

  • Go to File
  • Select the Info tab
  • Go to Account settings
  • Click on Address Book tab
  • Mark contact folder with your Address Book
  • Select Outlook Address Book
  • Click Finish
  • Click close and restart Outlook
Renee

I have checked and Address Book service is already added. The option to select the contacts folder as an Address Book is disabled. It means Outlook Address Book Service is corrupted. In this case, you need to recreate your Mail Profile.

You can try the following steps to see the contacts in Outlook –

  • Start Outlook
  • Go to Tools menu and click E-mail accounts
  • Click View or change existing directories or Address Book
  • Click Outlook Address Book and click on Remove option
  • Click Additional Address Books and click Next
  • Click Outlook Address Book and then click Next
  • Click ok and click Finish
  • Restart Outlook
  • In the folder list, Right-click the folder you want to use with the Address Book and click Properties
  • Click Outlook Address Book tab
  • Click to select the show this folder as an e-mail Address Book check box
