Q – I have a large number of emails in my Hotmail account. Now, my Hotmail account becomes slow. I want to store a backup of these emails to my hard drive. I don’t know the procedure to save these emails into the hard drive. Can anyone suggest me a solution to store the backup to my hard drive in a simplified way?

There are several manual as well as third-party solutions available for storing Hotmail emails to the hard drive. One simple solution is described below for you –

  • You can download Windows Live Mail application
  • Select Mail and click on Install
  • Provide email address and password of your Hotmail account
  • Now, click the Send/Receive button in order to download all Hotmail emails in WLM
  • The emails can be stored in EML file format

To know the location of my EML file, go to File > Options > Mails > Advanced tab > Maintenance button > Storage folder

One of the other methods is by downloading the Mozilla Thunderbird client. Make an IMAP connection to your Hotmail account. Make local folders in Thunderbird and copy your emails to local folders.

I tried the above discussed method but didn’t get satisfactory results. So, if you know any other method please suggest me. Thank you in advance.
