Q – I was using Apple Mail for a long time. Once I delete a message and I got “An error occurred while moving messages to mailbox “null”. When the message gets deleted it didn’t move to the trash folder. I don’t know where the message goes? It is just lost. I was not able to understand the issue. Can anyone fix this issue?

I understood your problem and hereby is the solution of your problem. You need to follow the steps –

  • Close all applications and then launch Apple Mail program
  • Click Mail tab and quit mail
  • Now hold the shift key and launch Apple Mail program again.
  • You can run Apple Mail in safe mode and can check for the issues whether they are cleared or not.

Here is the solution to your problem. Go through the steps given below –

  • Launch Apple Mail program
  • Go to the Mail tab > Preferences
  • Go to the Account tab and choose an appropriate email account.
  • Then, Click on Server Settings > Advanced IMAP Settings button
  • Enter INBOX in IMAP Path Prefix box and click OK
  • Click Mailbox Behaviors tab and choose INBOX/trash

You can simply go for Rebuild the mailbox. For this, Launch Apple Mail client and perform the given steps –

  • Click on Mailbox tab
  • Choose Rebuild
  • It will take some time depending upon the number of email messages in your Inbox or sent items.

One solution is to assign the folder either it is draft, sent, trash folder etc. Follow the simple steps –

  • Launch Apple Mail and select the folder you want to assign
  • Start assigning folders like drafts
  • On the taskbar, click Mailbox > Use This Mailbox As > Drafts Mailbox
  • Similarly, you can assign any folder
